  • Multi-Purpose Workboat: MP-80
Introducing the Glosten MP-80, the first in our new Multi-Purpose series. Designed to offer maximum versatility for a wide range of nearshore job functions in marine construction, dredging, and commercial aquaculture, the MP-80 is the ultimate utility tool.

    A Shallow-Water Workhorse

Outfitting the MP-80 with a straight-shafted, triple-screw propulsion system allowed us to combine low operating draft with a brawny 2200 hp, EPA Tier 3 power plant. The result is a rugged and extremely versatile work platform. Whether it’s towing and anchor handling or project cargo loadouts and in-water installations, the MP-80 is a shallow-water workboat in a league of its own.

    Features

The MP-80 features a steel hull outfitted with side fendering, wooden wear decks, and an aluminum house. Removable bow and bulwark gates facilitate handling gear and cargoes on deck, while retractable push knees and low-profile deck winches enable MP-80 to make up (pushing) to barges with high freeboard. Propulsion engines are CAT C18 (or alternative) turning 48″ diameter fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles. Cooling is provided by recessed box coolers to prevent damage during shallow water operations and periodic haulouts.

Deck machinery, as shown, includes two Heila folding-telescopic deck cranes, two Wintech 40 HL-E2 deck winches, and a purpose-designed Markey Machinery Deck Winch (DESDF-24) with separate drums for towing and anchor handling on a common foundation. The design meets all requirements of 46 CFR Subchapter M (Towing Vessels).
