The GT-70 is a conventional twin-screw tug designed for towing and pushing scows, barges, and pipe strings in support of marine construction and dredging operations in inland and protected waterways. It has an elevated pilothouse for enhanced forward visibility and generous working deck areas enclosed by tapered-height bulwarks. The main deck is equipped with a single-drum tow winch and two smaller backing winches for making up push-style, while the foredeck area features two fendered push knees and a compact, electric headline winch with the drive motor mounted below deck.
As shown, the GT-70 is configured as a day boat. The deckhouse contains a large fidley space aft and an open galley/mess space forward. The below-deck spaces are reserved for machinery and equipment, but there is adequate space for two staterooms, if desired.
