Team

WE’RE IN GOOD COMPANY.

Since our founding, Glosten has grown steadily and deliberately to a robust team of exceptionally talented engineers, designers, and support staff. Our team offers strong technical expertise combined with practical design, construction, and operations backgrounds, with many holding professional licenses and bringing hands-on shipyard or seagoing experience. More than that, we’ve cultivated a team who knows the industry and are passionate about what they do.

Brad Lamkin, PE

Principal, Marine Construction

Brad leads Glosten’s marine construction group and has over 20 years of marine construction experience. He has supported numerous salvage and wreck removal projects as a salvage engineer and provides naval architectural support for both new construction and refit projects. This support work includes stability, structural design and analysis, coordination of regulatory body approvals, and construction support. Working closely with Glosten’s marine construction clients, Brad ensures that marine and land cranes and all manner of construction equipment work safely and effectively on floating platforms of all kinds.

Brad’s favorite project at Glosten: the stability and structural design of the grillage supporting a Manitowoc 4600 ringer on two barges for the I-35 bridge replacement in Minneapolis. He enjoyed the fast turnaround time, working closely with the client under tight constraints, and the incredible end result.

David Larsen, PE

Principal, Marine Engineering

Dave joined Glosten in 1984 after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in mechanical engineering and went on to become one of our principal marine engineers. He has been around for so long that he has seen marine propulsion advance from coal power (not quite) to the current state-of-the-art battery-electric and other low/carbon neutral alternatives. Dave has decades of experience in the design, acquisition, and conversion of specialized vessels with an emphasis on propulsion, mechanical, and electrical systems. His passion is developing systems with optimized efficiency. His pet peeve is the misapplication of emerging and other technologies that result in suboptimal design solutions.

When not working, you’ll find Dave: out on the water fishing or up in the mountains chasing some solitude.

Jim joined Glosten in 2007 after earning his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of Washington and his master’s in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan. Now in his 15th year in the marine industry, he leads our marine and electrical engineering group and brings critical electrical engineering know-how to Glosten projects.

Jim particularly enjoys the challenges that come with large refit designs—determining existing ship conditions and crafting solutions to upgrade or renew vessel systems play well into his desire to learn how everything works.
