Main Deck Placed Onto R/V Taani Super Module

The R/V Taani is one of three Glosten-designed Regional Class Research Vessels (RCRVs) under construction at Bollinger Shipyards, and last week our team witnessed two modules of the main deck placed onto Taani’s “super module”—a piece of epic proportions that accounts for most of the ship’s hull.

Skagit County’s Guemes Island Ferry Granted Funding
March 18, 2022

We are so excited to share that Skagit County has secured funding from the Move Ahead WA Transportation package which will fund the Guemes Island Ferry Replacement Project through vessel delivery! The Glosten-designed vessel—slated to be the first zero-emission ferry on Puget Sound—can now move forward with soliciting bids for construction.

R/V David Packard Hull Unit CC08 Placement

R/V David Packard Construction Kicks Off with Keel Laying Ceremony

Construction for the R/V David Packard officially kicked off last Thursday with a keel laying ceremony at Freire Shipyard. Our on-site engineers, William Moon and Isabel Goñi-McAteer joined Michael Kelly of MBARI to celebrate this project milestone.

Dutra Launches Second Glosten-Designed Split-Hull Hopper Barge
November 3, 2021

Dutra Dredging launched their second Glosten-designed split-hull hopper barge this summer, two years after its predecessor, the ES15. The MS16 and ES15 echo the original design we delivered in 1995 with some important updates, including all-new hydraulics from Price Engineering and compliance with the latest ABS requirements prior to their construction at Corn Island Shipyard and Gunderson.

Oscilla Power Launches the Triton-C Wave Energy Converter

Oscilla Power, Inc has launched their first wave energy system, the Triton-C. This is a major milestone and Glosten is honored to have been a part of it, working with OPI to integrate their design through a FEED cycle and providing the design package for the system’s construction.

Kiewit Launches the SAS 2601 and 2602
September 2, 2021

Kiewit has successfully launch of two new split-hull hopper barges: SAS 2601 and 2602. Glosten provided the design for the sister vessels, which were built at Corn Island Shipyard, and Price Engineering supplied the cylinders, winch, and hydraulic and controls systems.
