In the February 2016 edition of Marine News, Editor Joe Keefe explores how Glosten’s marine engineers and naval architects are increasingly employing 3D modeling to enhance projects and communicate with stakeholders.
We are excited to say that 3D laser scanners are changing the way Glosten approaches refit projects. Our 3D laser scanner develops color images that are as detailed as high-resolution digital pictures. The individual scanned images are ‘stitched’ together to form a full color 3D model of the compartment that can be used to obtain measurements. The scanned images are typically accurate to within a fraction of an inch.”
