Glosten, a Seattle-based naval architecture consultancy, just joined the short list of North American companies utilizing Nupas-Cadmatic, a CAD/CAM engineering software system for the marine and offshore industry. Glosten will utilize the software to complete the detail design of Vigor’s Alaska Class Ferry, a two-vessel project at their Ketchikan, Alaska shipyard.
Both Glosten and Vigor Fab are excited about the opportunity. “516 customers in 41 countries can’t be wrong,” states Senior Vice President Joe Corvelli, head of Vigor Fab. “Our project demands a proven, accurate tool to streamline production for our team and to ensure our client gets a superb vessel. We look forward to the enhancements Nupas-Cadmatic will bring to Glosten’s great work.”
A few features of Nupas-Cadmatic made it the best choice for the naval architecture firm. Firstly, the tool was developed in conjunction with world-class shipyards and incorporates the collective experience of a large international user base. Secondly, the tool’s parametric modeling capabilities and embedded shipbuilding resources are a powerful way to reduce design hours. “Our software has already seen great success for international designers and shipbuilders,” remarks Jan Broos, Senior Sales Manager for Nupas-Cadmatic. “The Glosten-Vigor project will be an ideal ground to demonstrate how we can best serve the unique American shipbuilding industry.”
The detail design projects tackled by Glosten’s Production Services team have steadily grown in size and complexity since the team’s inception in 2008. “This project presents a great opportunity for our Production Services team to step into a world-class detail design environment,” asserts Glosten President Jay Edgar. “We couldn’t be more excited to take this step with Vigor and Nupas-Cadmatic by our side.”
