Glosten was selected by San Francisco Bar Pilots to develop a design for station boats that will meet the emissions requirements recently mandated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The requirements apply to all harbor craft operating in and around harbor and coastal California waters, and San Francisco Bar Pilots will be the first pilot association in California to acquire a vessel that complies with CARB’s strict Commercial Harbor Craft Regulation.
Glosten is conducting a propulsion feasibility study which is already underway, and will develop the contract design package for the station boats. The first two vessels are expected to enter service in 2024, followed by the third in 2025.
