We are pleased to share that funding is now in place for the construction of the Glosten-designed, all-electric replacement for the M/V Guemes. Washington State’s Skagit County is soliciting bids from nationwide shipyards interested in building the 28-car ferry, which will utilize an all-electric propulsion system provided by Canal Marine & Industrial Inc. and shore-charging to produce zero emissions during normal operations between Anacortes and Guemes Island in Puget Sound. Once built, the new vessel will be one of the first all-electric passenger and vehicle ferries in the United States.
