THE NATION’S LARGEST CIVIL WORKS PROJECT IN HISTORY.

By 2004, the Olmsted Locks & Dam had reached the end of its design life and the largest civil works project in US history was underway to replace it. Washington Group/Alberici (now AECOM), enlisted Glosten to support the entire lifecycle of the dam’s “in the wet” construction. Glosten supported the marine construction requirements of the Olmsted Locks & Dam replacement from 2004 to 2018, providing onsite support during construction and segment setting.

MARINE CONSTRUCTION CONSULTANTS.

Over the course of the project, Glosten provided a variety of services in support of the onsite construction team and the vessels involved in the dam replacement. We evaluated barge suitability for crane operations, equipment installation, and materials storage, and made structural design modifications as required. In addition, we performed stability analyses of the crane barges assisting in the construction effort during pile driving, material handling, and temporary anchor setting, and provided mooring solutions for more than 40 pieces of floating equipment used during the project.
