The Regional Class research vessel design was developed to enable multidisciplinary oceanographic research. This concept supports a wide array of deployed sensors and instrumentation; sample collection systems; and integrated acoustic data collection, including multibeam bottom mapping.
The concept features an optimized hull to reduce resistance while maintaining strong bubble sweepdown performance for acoustic data collection. It offers flexible laboratory spaces with efficient layouts, a large aft deck for multidisciplinary operations, low underwater radiated noise properties, and optimized seakeeping.
