This versatile ice-capable Ocean Class research vessel offers a unique hull form which enhances the ice-transiting performance of the vessel while retaining strong open-water speed, seakeeping, and science capability.
Capable of operating in any ocean, this monohull design features an ice wedge in the hull forebody to clear broken ice from the hull and propellers, a double hull protecting all fuel tanks to reduce pollution risk, and a protected and heated working deck area for science operations in extreme conditions. The design accommodates 26 scientists for year-round cross-disciplinary studies in the Arctic.
